SDCC Almost Here!

A week from today we will kick off our 2014 coverage of San Diego Comic Con with images and news from the show! We will be meeting with Gentle Giant, Sideshow, eFx, Kotboukiya, Hasbro, Qmx, Diamond and many others on our trip and want to make sure we ask them what YOU want to know!

Star Wars Insider #151 brings you the exclusive collectible Jeffrey Brown cover!

 Star Wars Insider Magazine officially announced today the times of the Jeffrey Brown cover signing at San Diego Comic Con!  Jeffrey Brown will be at San Diego Comic Con on the Friday and will be signing copies of the Star Wars Insider #151 for fans at 3PM Friday 25th July at the Titan booth #5537! Copies of the magazine will be sold at the booth throughout Comic Con but there are a limited number of these covers.  In this issue they also talk to Vanessa Marshall, who plays Hera the Rebel pilot who’s always at the center of the action!

DST Returns to San Diego Comic-Con, with Two Great Panels and Three Free Posters!

San Diego is the city so nice they gave it one name and decided to stick with it. But for one week out of every year, it unofficially becomes known as “Geek Paradise!” As the team at Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum are all geeks themselves, they are happy to announce that they will once again be setting up a booth at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, July 24-27, and hosting two panels for their fans!

Come by booth #2607 to check out the newest products, pick up the various exclusives, and fill some holes in your collection from the DST store! Build your own Minimate at the Build-A-Minimate booth, and pick up posters of original Marvel, Sin City and Jay & Silent Bob Minimates artwork that will be handed out throughout the weekend. R2-KT was created by Albin Johnson, founder of the 501st Legion, master droid builder Jerry Greene and the R2 Builders Club, for Johnson’s daughter Katie, who tragically passed away from brain cancer in 2005 at the age of seven. In real life, R2-KT makes appearances at children’s hospitals, Star Wars Celebration and charity events in the southeastern United States. In the Star Wars universe, the character has appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and has been made an official part of the universe’s canon.

Lucasfilm’s special panel – The Heroes of Star Wars Rebels at SDCC

Lucasfilm’s special panel, The Heroes of Star Wars Rebels (Thursday, 7/24/14, 6:00pm – 7:00pm, Room: 6BCF), will feature executive producer Dave Filoni, as well as the first panel appearance by executive producer Simon Kinberg and stars Freddie Prinze, Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, and Taylor Gray. They’ll discuss making the show and will debut several exclusive reveals from the upcoming series for fans in attendance.

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

Scheduled to premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

PROTOTYPE BOBA FETT BLACK SERIES FIGURE REVEALED AT STARWARS.COM!

The original original Boba Fett is back — and will join Hasbro’s popular 6-inch action figure line, the Black Series! Check out StarWars.com’s exclusive first look at Prototype Boba Fett! 

While Boba Fett’s iconic Mandalorian armor has become one of the most famous designs in all of Star Wars, it started out with a very different color scheme. In early concept art by Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston, seen in the gallery below, the bounty hunter was depicted wearing sleek, all-white armor. On June 28, 1978, Star Wars sound designer Ben Burtt and The Empire Strikes Back assistant film editor Duwayne Dunham debuted the costume with a test video (also available below), detailing its weaponry and functionality; the colors would later be developed to what has become Fett’s definitive look, but it all began with this early version.

Hasbro’s figure is a tribute to this important piece of Star Wars history and design — look for it exclusively at Walgreens this fall, with preorders opening at San Diego Comic-Con later this month!
