The Marvel Star Wars comics have been great building blocks to explore the Star Wars galaxy at large. Side stories depicting the origins of rebellion and resistance, tales discussing the impact of war on the galaxy, and introductions to all-new characters are some of the many different narratives we’ve seen, each adding to continuity in unique ways.

Several of these books have introduced characters who were especially important in the lives of more prominent and well-known figures in the Resistance, Rebellion, Empire, and First Order. In no particular order, here are eight whose actions helped shape the fate of the galaxy — for better or for worse.
