Government Did Not Charge Disney For Defence Force Assistance During ‘Star Wars’ Filming

THE government did not charge Disney for use of Defence Force services during the filming of the new ‘Star War’s here.

The LE Samuel Beckett and an air corps helicopter while scenes were filmed on Skellig Michael off the Kerry coats last year.
An exclusion zone around the island was enforced by the vessel during filming.
However the filmmakers were not charged as the ship was on sailing orders at the time, according to the Irish Times.
It is reported that the air corps helicopter only made one reconnaissance flight during the three day shoot.
The department said it provided the use of the services at the request of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
Further shooting is due to take place at the UNESCO world heritage site this summer, with the movie scheduled to be released in December.
