HOW TO MAKE A SABINE WREN JACKET

Via Starwars.com:

I love, love, LOVE (yes, all caps love) the character design for Sabine from Star Wars Rebels. The colors are fantastic, and the design lines are perfection. I would dress up as her every day if it were even remotely practical, but I suspect all that armor might get me in trouble on my usual train commute. So I decided to make a jacket inspired by Sabine’s look, but all fabric.

Here’s how I made mine:

Materials:

  • Black athletic jacket
  • Silvery spandex remnant (about ¾ of a yard)
  • Magenta cotton/spandex blend remnant (about ½ yard)
  • Orange cotton/spandex blend remnant (about ¼ yard)
  • Black cotton/spandex blend remnant (about ½ yard)
  • Black and white checkerboard fabric remnant (about ¼ yard)
  • Red cotton/spandex remnant (about 6×6 inches should be plenty)
  • Craft paint in light pink, magenta, orange and purple
  • Heat-n-Bond Lite iron-on adhesive (one package 17 in x 1.25 yds)
  • Thread to match each fabric
  • Small scrap of Velcro (about 3 inches long, 1/2-inch width)
