For about $23, fans of “Star Wars” can join the hordes buying advance tickets to the new movie opening Dec. 18. True fans can first snap up a Boba Fett action figure valued at $3,000 to $5,000.

More than 50 variations of the bounty hunter are among 175 lots of “Star Wars” items in a special Sotheby’s auction of memorabilia next month that could fetch more than $300,000. Culled from the collection of the Japanese fashion designer known as NIGO, the sale also includes Darth Vader helmets, lightsabers, more than 600 original action figures, vintage movie posters and even a Chewbacca cookie jar.
Titled “Return of the NIGO,” the event coincides with a marketing juggernaut leading up to the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the seventh episode of the film series. The collectibles will be offered in a live online auction on Dec. 11, and are estimated by Sotheby’s to sell for $233,200 to $368,700.
“Star Wars and the Power of Costume,” a Smithsonian traveling exhibition, opened last week in New York, featuring 70 hand-crafted outfits from the first six Star Wars films. The highest auction price for a “Star Wars” artifact was achieved Sept. 28 when the filming miniature of “Blockade Runner,” the first flying ship to appear in a “Star Wars” film, fetched $450,000 at a sale by the Calabasas, California-based dealer Profiles in History.
