‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Score to be Recorded in London

Via www.jwfan.com:

According to concert producer Tommy Pearson, who has met and interviewed John Williams in recent years, recording sessions for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will take place this summer in London. Although Pearson did not mention any orchestra, Williams will likely use the London Symphony, as he did for the six previous Star Wars scores.

The comment was made last Friday during a film music concert at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

Here’s the original report from our John Williams forum:

I was at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Friday night watching the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra do a film music program (Some Williams).

Just after Battle of the Heroes was performed the presenter, Tommy Pearson said“John Williams will be returning to London to record the new Star Wars score this summer”.

Additionally, composer Mark Griskey (of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 1 & 2 and The Old Republic video games), mentioned in a recent interview that Williams had already written the themes for the movie before Christmas.
